At Equi-Librium Bodywork, my philosophy is simple: Mind. Body. Balance.
Hi, I'm Mary Ellen, founder of Equi-Librium Bodywork, based out of Osceola, Wi. Horses have been a part of my life for more than 20 years, and throughout that time, one thing has remained constant: I've always wanted to better understand them. Every horse has their own story to tell, and I believe there is always more to learn if we take the time to listen.
That curiosity has led me to become a continual student of the horse – and is ultimately what drew me to equine bodywork. My education in equine massage began with a year-long bodywork program recognized by the National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure and Massage (NBCAAM). My studies included an additional focus on equine anatomy and biomechanics, paired with hands on practice that allowed me to deepen my understanding of how the horse’s body moves, compensates and communicates.
While my riding background began in the hunter/jumper world, I've been fortunate to learn and grow through a variety of disciplines, including Dressage, Eventing, Western Dressage, Natural Horsemanship and more.
Each has given me a different perspective on how horses move, develop, and communicate. Those experiences continue to shape how I approach each horse and every equine bodywork session.
Like many horse owners, my own horse, Teddy, has been one of my greatest teachers. Teddy challenged me to look beyond the obvious and ask better questions. Instead of seeing and addressing only the areas a horse is showing discomfort in, I became interested in tracing the compensation patterns of where that discomfort may be starting from. That curiosity ultimately led me to pursue the goal of becoming an equine bodyworker.
I believe every horse deserves to be treated as an individual. Rather than following the same routine for every appointment, I take time to evaluate the horse in front of me and adjust each session to their needs. Whether your horse is a competitive athlete, a trusted trail partner, or enjoying retirement, my goal is to support comfort, movement, and their overall well-being through thoughtful, individualized bodywork.
I'm also a firm believer that no one professional has every answer. The best results come from working together. Veterinarians, farriers, trainers, saddle fitters, chiropractors, bodyworkers, and owners all bring valuable pieces to the puzzle. I enjoy being part of that team while continuing to learn from every horse, client and equine professional I meet.
Outside of my business, I enjoy giving back to the horse community through volunteer work. From therapeutic riding programs to horse rescue, those experiences have reinforced something I believe deeply: every horse deserves patience, compassion, and the opportunity to be understood.
